Meadow View Campsite

Located near the village of Horton in the heart of rural Dorset, Meadow View is just a 2 hour drive from London and is within reach of the Dorset coastline + the New Forest.

Campsite Overview

Just a 2 hour drive from London, the site is within reach of both the Dorset coastline with it’s beautiful beaches and the New Forest.

The site is managed day to day by Tim who lives on a smallholding on site. There is a small reception with local information and they sell fresh eggs from the free-range hens, charcoal, briquettes and a range of toys and outdoor games and other commonplace items that you may need. There are footpaths and bridleways nearby the site making it a good base for walking, including a walk through the woods up to nearby local folly Horton Tower.

Parts of the site are managed as a nature reserve for birds and there is a fishing lake with dragonflies and butterflies. Swifts and swallows can be seen flitting around the site in the summer. Our hand drawn site map will give you an idea of the camp site layout.

The campsite is in the heart of the Dorset countryside surrounded by the pretty villages of Horton, Chalbury, Holt Wood, Wimborne St Giles and Gussage All Saints. The Norman ruins of Knowlton Church and it’s neolithic henge monument known locally as Knowlton Rings are also nearby. The nearest towns are Verwood, Wimborne and Ringwood. For different routes to the campsite see our google map and directions (including full address and postcode for Sat Navs).

Facilities + Parking

The facilities are modern with two large communal shower blocks with heated towel rails, gents/ladies toilets and washing up sinks. There are hand soap dispensers and loo rolls provided. There are also free hairdyrers in the ladies. There is a freezer available for ice block refreezing at reception.

You can park next to your bell tent. Parking is for one vehicle per tent only (extra car £4 per night). During wet spells it may not be possible to park right next to the accommodation and vehicles will need to park on hard standing. If this is the case our staff will help transport your luggage to your bell tent.

The campsite is very secure and entry to the main site is gated and the gate is kept locked at all times.
